What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Zambra

I am apprehensive about what this new year will bring, but the California-based vocal group known as Zambra is bringing me feelings of peace this morning. This unassuming-looking group of older women produce some of the most delicious harmonies I’ve ever heard. The group is comprised of long-time friends who have been singing together, first for fun and now professionally, for many decades. Their focus is on creating lush harmonies to global music, and I’d say they are wildly successful.

“Whether singing Sephardic laments, Scots Gaelic waulking tunes, Italian wedding songs, Swedish lullabies, or southern Appalachian hymns, our sound is consistently beautiful and engaging, with most material arranged specifically for our voices by members Kathleen Loveless and Kathryn Veditz. Zambra typically performs a capella, but sometimes uses traditional accompaniment such as frame and hand drums, fiddle, guitar or dulcimer.”

You can hear all of Zambra’s uplifting music on their website and on YouTube and Facebook.
