I have a deep love for fashion illustration, but I am usually annoyed when the illustrator (especially if it’s a male artist) makes the female form unattainable. However, today’s artist’s work is so hilariously out of proportion and so full of character and fun, I can’t resist his work. These are the stick insect-like fashion illustrations by Spanish artist Arturo Elena. His figures are wildly, extravagantly exaggerated, and somehow, that makes it okay.
Elena has been working in the world of fashion illustration for more than three decades, and he has a marvelous way of picking out the right details and beautifully illustrating the fabrics in the fashions he draws. From 1992 through 2009, his work was published in every issue of Cosmo Spain. He has also done work for other fashion mags, and his illustrations have been featured by many famous fashion designers.
You can see all of Arturo Elena’s darling work on his website and on Instagram.

I think my most used description for sewing pattern illustration is Insect Legged Women. I’m into this.
