Beachy Bath

Les Nageuses, Suzanne Manufacture

While in Fire Island, I was chatting with someone who just bought a house out there and was planning on remodeling an outdated bath. She told me she was looking for something beach or water themed, but didn’t want anything too predictable. No fish scale tiles or cartooney sea life or compasses for her. I remembered a glorious mosaic that had popped up in my feed recently (see above), and she loved it! I’m so jealous, I could cry. I have never wanted a tile mosaic floor as much in my entire life. When we got home, I had an idle hour and aquatic bathroom design popped back into my head. I decided to see what other interesting water-themed wall and floor tiles and mosaics I could find. The internet did not disappoint!

These watercolor rainbow ceramic tiles would make a gorgeous border without overdoing the theme! By 1 Gallery Above
I find this OOAK crab mosaic really lovely and stylish! By Jan Marvin Art Studio
If you’re trying to steer away from critters, this gorgeous tempered glass wave panel would be an amazing feature wall in your bathroom (the design repeats right to left so it can be extended). By River and Root Art. Darnit, now I want to replace my backsplash…
Swans are a constant theme when living by the water in NY. By Amy Exton
Minimal but definitely giving me ocean! By Ivy Hill Tile for Home Depot
If you’re going to go fishy, go all the way! There’s nothing cutesy about this “Marine Ballet” mosaic. By MEC Artworks
I honestly might love this aquatic-themed mosaic as much as the swimmers at the top, which I didn’t think possible! It’s based on a soundings map, and I find it utterly lovely. By Mercury Mosaics
This blue koi mosaic is so modern and simple, I just love it! By Tile Dots
I’m having a tough time resisting these hand-painted ceramic sailboat tiles… By Artworks on Tile
Given the opportunity, I would have octopus references everywhere! Love this guy from Artsaics
Same idea as the first one, but a very different feeling (plus these swimmers are life-sized!) By Mozaico

Of course, if you decided that all that nautical stuff was too cutesy, you could just hint at water using cool blues with brushed brass accents and a porthole mirror…

I am always drawn to blues so a lot of these really appeal to me. I love the movement in the fish piece so I think that one is my favourite. I am also pretty smitten with that wave backsplash.

I’m sure my midcentury bathroom with the pink bathtub needs those swans. All these pieces are wonderful!
