I don’t think I’ve ever profiled someone quite like today’s multi-potentialite artist. This is Kira Coviello, A.K.A. Honest 2 Betsy. Her slogan is “Vintage vibes, not vintage values,” and her website’s about me section sounds very much like mine:
“Honest 2 Betsy is a creative, vintage-loving gal named Kira Coviello. She has dabbled as a content creator, writer, actor, choreographer, stage director, dancer, violinist, costume designer, set designer, teaching artist, textile artist, feral housewife in vintage clothes, and mom to three girls she is indoctrinating to be bastions of smashing the patriarchy.”
Along with her band, the Bawdy Broads, Coviello does live shows that blend comedy, music, ventriloquism, dance and “a healthy dose of mischief.” I’m in! The music Honest 2 Betsy and her Bawdy Broads perform is a fun mix of vintage novelty songs and a few pithy originals, all while dressed in vintage clothing.
“Warning: This show contains accordions, puppets, and a grotesque overuse of polka dots. Those with adverse medical conditions should still come. We want to see what happens to you.”
You can follow Honest 2 Betsy on her website and on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.

She’s a hoot! Her delivery and facial expressions had me chuckling along with the lyrics. Also, I am always impressed by people who can play instruments like the accordion because it’s one of those “rub your tummy while patting your head” bilateral coordination things that everyone will hear if you get it even slightly wrong.

I don’t love the sound of an accordion, but I do admire the coordination involved in playing it.
