Olly Denby is the designer and maker of the glorious, other-worldly-looking lighting sold by Fleur D’Light. As a sculptor, Denby had traveled all over the world doing public installations of those larger works. Then, as with so many of the other artists about whom I write, they found the Covid lockdown to be an inspiration to focus their efforts into smaller projects. They wanted people to be able to experience beauty in their own living spaces. Thus, “Fleur D’Light was born as a way to bring art, color, and joy into people’s homes during a time of global isolation.”
Fleur D’Light’s beautiful pieces are made to order using a combination of tools (laser cutters and 3D printers included) and lots and lots of handwork. While there are certain patterns followed, each light is just a little bit special and different from the others in its line. I think that makes them so special!
You can sheck out all of Fleur D’Light’s lovely lamps on their website and on Etsy, Instagram, and Facebook.
