What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

In 2012, after Hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast, we were displaced from our poor broken little house for 6+ months. We were fortunate enough to have the resources to find a place to live while we waited for our home to be restored, but not everyone in the world is so lucky. Wars and climate change force people out of their homes – often with very little money.  The collapsible, portable woven shelters, would allow these people to carry their homes with them.  They come with a roof tank to collect fresh water (which even enables short showers!) and solar panels that provide electricity.  Plus, they can be twisted open to let in air or closed to keep in heat, so they’re suitable for most climates.

In addition to being eminently practical, I think they’re also great to look at, inside and out.  Three cheers for human ingenuity!
