What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

You Can Keep Your Shoes On

ImageIn high school, Jeff Friesen was voted most likely to step on Legos barefoot.

Okay, I made that up, but can you imagine how fraught with peril his floor must be?

Photographer and artist Jeff Friesen has been playing with Legos since 2013, when his daughter moved into the inevitable Lego phase.  He’s been doing Lego dioramas (for fun) with her ever since.  However, his most recent series, entitled Bricksy, is especially awesome. He’s taken a number of well-known Banksy works and interpreted them in Legos. Not only has he recreated the Banksy pieces, in some cases, he’s also cleverly extrapolated some details that weren’t in the original works. Image

“In my other life I’m a serious award-winning photographer, much given to brooding and brow-furrowing. That part of my life is known as Bert. Every summer I look after my elementary school-aged daughter in the afternoons. She doesn’t care for too much serious stuff so we do fun things instead, such as playing with toys. That part of my life is known as Ernie.”

His serious work is lovely, but I’ll take Ernie over Bert any day.

In case you want more, I recommend that you check out his 50 States of Lego photos. They’re just as witty and wonderful as the Bricksy stuff. I’m sure you can guess which is my favorite . . .
