Hirotoshi Ito does great things with stones. A Japanese stone mason-come-artist, this graduate of the Tokyo National Fine Arts University takes ordinary rocks and turns them into, as Demilked pointed out, almost anything but rocks. His work runs the gamut from whimsical to downright creepy, but I like it all.
I’d most like to watch his process. I can only imagine the crazy tools he uses to create these weird-and-wonderful masterpieces. His website seemed a little daunting, but both his DeviantArt page and his Flickr stuff are totally accessible (and in English) and full of fascinating art.
Enjoy!

Nothing you’ve shown in these pictures is creepy, but I will check out the other stuff. Thanks for the recommendation.

I was mainly referring to the human teeth and taxidermy eyes, but I like it all anyway.

This image would be classified as a person who is a bonified hard head. 🙂

Funny, I thought several of them were creepy. I guess it’s in the eye of the beholder, so to speak.
