What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Giving in to the Lure of Shoes

If you know me even a little bit, you know how much I love shoes. It takes a supreme effort of will NOT to make my daily OBT posts about shoes.  I am seriously considering starting a blog called The Daily Shoo. Honestly, I have something of a problem. It’s Monday, and I need a boost, so today, I’m not even pretending to fight the urge.

In a couple of weeks, I plan on dragging Bestie to go see this exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and I’m so excited, I have given myself a case of the vapors (in my head, I hear that word in Blanche DuBois’ voice, “the VA-puhs”).

  1. I am now salivating at my desk. I may have to make a trek to Brooklyn on one of my upcoming jaunts. This exhibit I have to see.

  2. You don’t even wanna know what’s in my closet – I bought 2 of those shoe-wheel things (for storage – each holds around 15 pair) AND I have a 3-shelf rack packed full. I can’t even wear half the shoes I own since they are pretty heels and I currently work on a farm where the ground can be muddy, uneven, flooded, pooped-on at any given time. Or all at the same time…

  4. Have you been to the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto? If not, get yourself there, woman!

  5. When I taught at a public school, I could tell which teachers wore heels and which teachers wore sensible flats for most of their careers. These observations have kept me committed to the flats BUT I have an entirely new appreciation for the art of the heel after reading this entry. Breathtaking!
