Unglamorous name notwithstanding, the annual IBS shows in New York and Las Vegas are full of pageantry and creativity and showmanship and really, really nutty hair. You know how I love a spectacle, so you can imagine my joy when I came across these fierce and fabulous pictures. Here are a few highlights!

Sometimes, I have to really struggle to keep my inner 12-year-old boy quiet. I am (he is) only barely resisting making a joke about a blowout at the IBS
It is currently 90+ degrees out, so even looking at her top made of hair extensions is making me itchy
Adorable in its dorkiness. Reminds me of the alien women they would encounter on Star Trek TOS or in vintage sci fi movies

I did not expect to see such an obvious knock-off at an event with an audience who likely remembers the original
I 100% guarantee they are doing a simplified version of Yanis Marshall’s “Applause” choreography. Kind of a great idea, actually.
Her hair looks like she’s being attacked by a shower curtain rod. Oh, and here’s what I would look like in that costume
