Do You Believe in Magic?

Katrina Parry shoots children. With a camera, of course. I don’t mean the way you sometimes wish you could when they are being little jerks.

Her photography has a quality that makes her subjects – children and sometimes animals – look like creatures from another world. They’re almost too beautiful, like my memories of childhood; a little soft focus, a little magical, a little timeless. Maybe it’s her use of natural light, maybe it’s her composition, but I can almost believe these children are little angels who don’t torture the cat and color on the walls and refuse to take a bath and generally infuriate their parents. In other words, she’s a very good photographer.

  2. Wow! Those images are magical. Everything about them is perfect. Also, I don’t think my children have ever behaved that cherubic and serene in front of a camera. Or ever.
