Curtis Wiklund is a hopeless romantic. (That’s not his job. Professionally, he’s a wedding photographer and illustrator.) He says his wife’s 365-day photography project inspired him to challenge himself to make one drawing every day for a year. He began his Tumblr, Drawings365, to share his daily drawings.

While he didn’t have a particular theme in mind when he started, one emerged as he went. He found himself more and more drawing moments from his relationship with his wife Jordin. The Tumblr ended up being something of a love letter to her.

“During that year, many people told us they felt like they got to know us better through the drawings, like they were a peek into our personal life.

“Together, Jordin and I are one artistic entity. She is the heartbeat. I am hands. Forgive me if I say ‘we’ when you thought it was just ‘me’. I can’t help it. Everything comes from the fusion of her plus me.”

Cute, right? So are the drawings, and while the styles are all over the place, it’s abundantly clear in every illustration how crazy about her he is.

  5. Those are awesome. It’s funny how you say a theme emerged. I think a lot of writing is like that and now I think about it in visual art as well. I guess there’s a story inside of us and it wants to get out–and it will, someway or somehow.
