I am still crazed at work, so I must be brief, but I think you’re going to love these pieces!
The (unnamed) artist behind Made By Woodhand wanders around New York City, salvaging wood. She then turns that forgotten, unwanted scrap into mind-bogglingly complex, perfect pieces of furniture. Her woods are matched for type and grain, then cut with a precision I can only dream of. (When I am building something with wood, it is always measured perfectly, then cut poorly. I suck at sawing.) The salvaged wood pieces are then merged to create quilt-like patterned tables, headboards, clocks, cutting boards, and mirrors.
The Artist’s Instagram is full of lovely making-of photos, and her website is a ton of fun, too. Enjoy! I promise I’ll make a little more sense tomorrow. Maybe.

I can’t imagine what goes into them. She must be a wiz at math!

I love these! Different shades of wood are the primary “theme” in my living room. I would fill my house with these if I could. And you made perfect sense. You even slipped and Esty joke in there.

The marquetry is amazing. The precision, skill, the math involved impresses me. I associate marquetry with being quite old-fashioned but these pieces strike me as being pretty modern. I saw that jar of heads and just knew you were going to have to mention Etsy.

Understood. However, you’ve inspired the theme for next week’s Etsomnia, so stay tuned. We might find you something more in your budget!

Hi! I wanted to let you know that the headboard post is live now, in case you wanted to check it out. Also, I found a few items which, although they didn’t make it into the post, I still thought you might want to look at. If you email me at contact@myonebeautifulthing.com, I’ll be happy to send them along. Thanks!

I’ll bet she has a very good high tech saw. You can’t do this with a hand saw.
Oh man. We’ve been headboardless for years. I’ve been waiting for a special headboard. You may have helped me find it.

Could be much more professional with a headless pin nailer. Brad holes scream amateur.

You think brad holes are amateur? Well, I had to look up both of those terms, so I think I win the amateur title! Thank you. I learned something today!
