Kudos to paint experts Sherwin-Williams for picking one of my all-time favorite neutrals for their 2017 color of the year. Meet Poised Taupe! Paired with a warm white and charcoal, it’s delicious, and next to a shell pink or a teal, it’s a knockout! (I know it sounds like I’m on the payroll, but no, I’m just genuinely, unendorsedly excited!)
The Nest Interiors and Lovejoy Designs rooms are lovely. Those three colours are perfect. Just need to add two standard poodles and a kelpie. Not sure it is possible to live without bookcases.
They went kind of staid after years of purple, pink and orange. But these rooms are very calming and elegant. Oh, for the bathroom with the claw foot tub!
At last. Our paths diverge. Momentarily. I hate taupe. Mostly. Though you’ve done a good job convincing me it could work. I’m someone else’s space. 😉

You may have books, of course, but you must paint the book spines taupe.

I think that may be the colour I have picked out for our hallway. Who knew I could ever be on trend?

I will probably find its some other SW taupe altogether, like “hopelessly outmoded taupe” or something.

Ha! Maybe it will turn out to be Faded manila folder taupe, haven’t watered in a month taupe, or JLo needs a facial taupe.

Look closely, and you’ll realize that bathroom is actually a dining room. Very practical, don’t you think?

I almost never love neutrals (other than grey), but taupe really speaks to me.

I’m just grateful it has poise! There’s so little of that out there these days . . .

Thank you! I took that on our first kayak through Jamaica Bay after Hurricane Sandy.
