Elina Gleizer
Although she’s only 29 years old, Israeli jewelry designer and goldsmith Elina Gleizer has a very mature eye for design. She got her degree in jewelry design from Israel’s Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, and then got right to work making her extraordinarily simple but stunning pieces. Her artist’s statement communicates as clearly as her jewelry:
“My designs have a continuous dialogue with human anatomy, form and ergonomics.” She writes, “I am Passionate about making extraordinary people express themselves in a rebel-elegant way, extraordinary people who are looking to STAND OUT through innovation, originality and high product quality.”
It’s really easy for figural jewelry – especially animal jewelry – to come across as juvenile or over-precious, but Gleizer seems to strike just the right balance between which details are represented and which are implied. The resulting designs are soft and bold and undeniably beautiful.

The owl rings first grabbed me, and that rabbit ring is amazing. But the thing that really stands out here is that some of this would make a great gift for a husband/boyfriend or a male relative – and blokes are so difficult to buy for!

I think these are wonderful. As you stated, jewellery like this could be kitsch but in this designer’s skillful hands it’s gorgeous. I love the focus on line and form. I think that’s what makes it really elegant is paring back those recognizable forms to something more spare.

I 100% agree. It takes real talent to so perfectly represent something with so few lines. And I know you love those owls…
