Dante Marioni
Today, we’re looking at the stunning, elegant glass art by Dante Marioni. Though he’s only 52, Marioni has been working with glass for 43 years. The guy got started early! The son of artists, his first glass-blowing experience happened when he was just 9. Within 10 years, he was an internationally recognized artist.
“Dante Marioni burst onto the international glass scene at the age of 19 with a signature style that has been described as the purest of classical forms executed in glass by an American glassblower. His amphoras, vases, and ewers are derived from Greek and Etruscan prototypes, yet they are imaginatively and sometimes whimsically reinterpreted. His impossibly elongated, sinuous shapes are made with bright and saturated contrasting colors.” –Corning Glass Museum
I am really attracted by his perfect-looking, classic lines and traditional shapes. I think they would be especially effective if paired with glass pieces by artists whose work is looser and more modern.
You can see all of Dante Marioni’s beautiful work on his website and on Instagram.

Wonderful! These pieces are so appealingly tactile. I’m pretty sure I need those glass acorns in my life.

They really are stunning. I’m most in love with the vase at the top, but I wouldn’t kick the other ones out of bed, either!

I have to share this work, https://www.gartnerblade.com/, which I think would pair well with this artist’s work – especially those lemon curd yellow vessels. I have seen Gartner Blade at several fine craft shows, including Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts and the ACC Baltimore show. Own a small work; which I could afford more! Thanks for the beauty.
