The Best Looking Dog Bed in the World by VurvDesign/Glenn Ross
Designer Glenn Ross is an absolute master with wood veneers. He applies his veneers and his wonderful, mid-century-influenced design sensibilities to some of the most desirable dog beds, feeders, dog houses, and non-dog-related household items I’ve ever seen. I find his wall-mounted cabinets especially toothsome. When I asked Ross about his inspiration, his answer really resonated with me.
“I feel like our industrial/consumer machine has kind of run its course, and we are ripe for a new paradigm – and my fantasy future values aesthetic beauty as a new currency. As people are searching for more meaning in the material world around them, they are turning to more and more hand made, custom, artisan type items.
Beauty as currency without anyone taking off their clothes. I certainly hope his vision comes true. I’d love to live in that world!
In addition to his gorgeous housewares, Ross tells me he’s currently working on building his second teardrop camper (for people). You can read about project’s progress on his blog. You can also check out his work on his website, on Behance, and in his Etsy shop.

Gorgeous stuff. I love how sleek the designs are and how perfect the choices and uses of the selected wood. Frankly, I’d love to curl up on one of those dog beds.

How’s SXSW? I’m jealous that I’m not there.

So far, it’s wet. The shows “officially” start on Tuesday evening I think. I’m not finding bands in the line up that I am dying to see, although for sure we will go day drinking and check out a couple of free shows. We are seeing Shiny Ribs at the Old Settler’s Music Festival next month and are looking forward to that weekend a lot more that south by this year.

I’m so jealous of the dog bed. With a little bit of work, it could be converted into a nice chair…

You’ll have to be very bendy. Yoga might be a good way to prepare.
