Method Studios
Today’s amazing motion capture video by Method Studios was created in connection with the 2016 AICP (Association of Independent Commercial Producers) Awards to promote various sponsors. While that all sounds pretty dry, the video is anything but.
Cutting-edge animation merged with just the right hip hop choreography; what a treat!

I find myself curious to know whether they used real dancers to base the moves on, or if it was entirely animation. Pretty cool!

I followed the link you left and it explained they did use motion capture from real dancers, then added the animation. Next time I’ll read the link first!

They definitely used real dancers, then used a motion capture program to map the surface of the dancers with different textures. Hypnotic, isn’t it?

This is such fun! Motion capture is so intriguing to me, trying to determine where the real person ends and the animation begins. I am impressed with the wide variety of textures they achieved.

And they all seem so … touchable! Fascinating stuff.

Yes! Totally. I thought that particularly about the blobby shimmering gold one and the one that looked like feathers. I wanted to run my hands across both of them. Actually the lobby gold one would be me if I was the dead gold girl in that Bond movie.
