A million thank yous are owed to my lovely readers Alison and Don of Adventures in Wonderland for recommending today’s incredible food artist.
Ella Hawkins took her PhD in Shakespearean costume design and combined it with her gift for baking to create the most delightful looking cookies (biscuits) I’ve ever seen! How does she do it? Her swoon-worthy creations are made “using royal icing, food colouring gels, and vodka.” I assume the vodka is for inspiration.
You can follow the epically-creative Ella Hawkins on her website and on Instagram.

When I opened your post, I first looked at the top image before reading and I immediately thought I had misread. I could not believe that the first image depicted anything edible. These are absolutely amazing and I have honestly never seen anything like them. What an absolute mega talent. As a history nerd, I love all of the designs that reference fragments from the past.

Who eats these cookies?! Crazy people! They are meant to be bought and promptly placed in the freezer so they can be removed and viewed from time to time. Absolutely gorgeous.

That’s probably exactly what I’d do with them!

Granted, it’s a lot of time to spend on 1 cookie, but though her time management is problematic, I can’t fault her artistry!

Thanks Donna, you’re welcome. I was so completely gobsmacked by her work that I had to share. Her talent and skill are both extraordinary, and very unique. I watched the video so of course now I want to go to the David Parr house. I agree with Laura – mega talent.

Amazing art and apparently she is getting recognition for her work. Artist in residence at the Jane Austen house, just wow!
