I’m so excited to bring to you the amazing original music by young Irish singer/songwriter Aimee Carty. She popped into my Instagram feed, and for once I had the sound on. When I played first post below, I was truly gobsmacked. Her song structure, lyrics, and storytelling combined with her absolutely lovely singing voice makes for some very satisfying music. I can’t stop listening. I think we’re going to be hearing a lot more from this amazing talent.

One of the commenters called her a mix of Ingrid Michaelson and Regina Spektor, but her music also has such great musical theater potential. I’d pay good money to see her star in a musical of her own making.

Carty first started getting medial (or at least social media) attention when at the age of 16, she wrote a song called Tell Me Your Story about a homeless teen she regularly passed on the streets of Galway. Once the song started to get popular, she teamed up with a Galway not-for-profit called The Simon Community to help raise money for the homeless. In the last 5 years, Carty has matured and her songwriting has progressed quite a bit, but there’s something very sweet about her 16-year-old-perspective lyrics for the song.

You can follow Aimee Carty on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
