Let me start by saying I am not making this up. The Oscar Mayer company is taking applications for the next “class” of Wienermobile* drivers. And who wouldn’t want the opportunity to spend the next year driving across the U.S. in a 27-foot-long hot dog? Brand spokespersons receive a salary of $35,000 for the year, and get a weekly allowance of $150 to cover food, travel, and living expenses. They also get 18 paid days off per year (that’s not very many, actually), plus health insurance, and 100% of hotel expenses.

*In early 2023, it was rebranded the Frankmobile, but they changed it back to the Wienermobile a few months ago. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Each year’s class is comprised of twelve brand ambassadors, and there are six Wienermobiles are on the road at all times. New Hotdoggers are thoroughly trained in driving and maintaining the vehicle and are also given intensive training on the brand. After their year of hot dogging, they become part of the alumni organizations, and many of them go on to have successful careers in PR, marketing, and communications.

Qualified applicants must be college graduates with an outgoing personality, a talent for social media content creation, and a clean driving record. After reading the job description, I can see why this position is so competitive. It would look really cool on a résumé!
