What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Sometimes, I don’t know what I’m looking at. But I love it anyway. These are the mind-blowing contemporary dance videos posted by the Instagram account known simply as performance_theatre. I deeply wish I new more about where they came from (and where I can find more), but no luck. The sister accounts linked in their bio are all in Persian, and I don’t know who these gorgeous, gorgeously-talented artists are.

“Theater is one of the highest and purest beautiful arts. Because it is somewhere between life and art. -Tadeosh Kantor”

– Google Translation of workshopbadan.id bio

I guess this is just one of those times when I need to sit back and just enjoy what I’m looking at without complication (or attribution, which irks me). I’ve also concluded this must be an Insta account that posts other people’s work without giving credit to the artists. I find this doubly frustrating, and I nearly scrapped the whole thing, but it’s such a gobsmacking collection of amazing movement and dance, I couldn’t bear to trash it.

Because I know many people have had trouble with Instagram embeds, I’m linking to the individual accounts below so you can click the link and view them in your browser.

You can follow these amazing performers on the following Instagram accounts:

I am glad you decided to forge ahead with your plan to share because this is really creative and innovative stuff. The underwater one is so impressive, to have that degree of control over your movements and angles while in water – wow – but my favourite is the one with the window. It seems so simple in concept – just heads and arms popping out of a window – but it is wonderfully creative and imaginative.
