Playing With Architecture

Anna Devis + Daniel Rueda

Spanish art duo Anna Devis and Daniel Rueda want to make you look twice, and they are remarkably successful at reaching that goal. They see things in the everyday that I never would. Their images are happy and charming and often funny. Devis and Rueda put themselves in their photos, and they both seem to be having a great time of it. What a fun life this must be!

Devis and Rueda met at architecture school, so they both have a deep understanding of building shapes and angles. Rueda has tons of experience as an architectural photographer, and when he began to combine that expertise with Devis’s art background, magic began to happen.

“Although it may seem surprising or hard to believe, besides some basic image processing, Anna and Daniel create these surreal scenes without the use of photo editing software. Instead, they carefully set the scene in real life using all sorts of everyday objects, unexpected locations, and tons of natural light.” -About Anna and Daniel

The pair have published an adorable book called Happytecture, and their client list is long and impressive. I look forward to seeing more of their architectural interactions in the future.

You can follow Anna Devis & Daniel Rueda on their website and on Instagram.

I love the creativity and the ingenuity. I like how crisp and bold the photographic tableaus are. Something about the style of the images seems familiar. Have you shared work by this duo before? Or have I just seen them on my Instagram feed?
