Lucy Claire Dunbar

U.K.-based Illustrator and designer Lucy Claire Dunbar has a charming style all her own. Her sweet, uplifting, self-deprecating messages are always positive, and her accompanying illustrations are quite simply perfect. Going through her social media, she had so many captioned illustrations I loved, I finally had to cut myself off (but I could easily have kept going).

In addition to her inspirational and encouraging illustrations, Dunbar often draws famous people (mostly from behind), including the English Royal Family and pop stars (Taylor Swift is a regular). Her post depicting Queen Elizabeth and Paddington Bear was the first to go viral, but her work has been treasured by many for a few years now.

Dunbar’s father is a well-known animator in the U.K., and Lucy is one of five children, all who are artists. What a fun house that must have been!

Note: Try as I might, I just cannot get the Instagram embeds to load in my browsers. I try very hard not to use artists’ works in their entirety, but there doesn’t seem to be another way. Everything below is obviously the property of the magical Lucy Claire Dunbar. To atone for my sins, I’m going to buy some of her prints.

    These are delightful. I will need to check out more of her Paddington pieces as we are big Paddington fans in this household.
