Natalie Ciccoricco

Today’s awesome artist was sent to me by Alison & Don of Adventures in Wonderland.

Dutch-born/California-based mixed media artist Natalie Ciccoricco creates wonderful collages with found objects, images, and embroidery thread. I am fascinated by the way she takes a relatively predictable landscape and using thread, she creates what looks like a disturbance in the space/time continuum. Her project known as Nesting features and other objects like twigs and wooden kitchen spoons embroidered onto textured paper to create intriguing shapes and lines. I love the balance and sense of serenity they convey.

You can see all of Natalie Ciccoricco’s amazing work on her website and on Instagram, Facebook, and Saatchi Art.

I love the pieces that incorporate sticks. I think those have a wonderful balance between the organic forms of the sticks and the precise control of the embroidered lines.

It’s such interesting original work. I love your description of it looking like a disturbance in the space/time continuum. Thanks for the shoutout.
