We are headed out for a much-needed week in the sun. I have been anticipating this trip so long, it felt like I’d never get here. While we are away, we will be unplugging 95% of the time, so I’ve set up reposts to keep you all entertained. Hope you enjoy them! Before we start the reposts, though, I have something really special for you.
Today, we’re looking at something simple, but surprisingly effective. This is a recorded phone line is called Peptoc. Hosted by the West Side Elementary School in Healdsburg, CA, the pre-recorded phone service was featured on a CBS News report, and then started receiving tens of thousands of calls per hour from people looking for something about which to feel happy.
The hotline was the idea of teachers and friends, Asherah Weiss and Jessica Martin. They thought it would be something cute for the students’ families to enjoy, but the response was immediately overwhelming.
“Adults support children, but we don’t really celebrate how much they support us. And to be able to be comforted by them gives us great hope that maybe we’re all going to be OK.” – Teacher Jessica Martin
If you find yourself in need of a pick-me-up (or just want to hear something wonderful), you can call PepToc at 707-873-7862, or you can learn more (and make a donation to help them keep it going) on their website and Instagram.

Thank you! I will try not to let my anxiety about returning to the U.S. cloud the week (but it’s a struggle)
