What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

To Scale

I’ve been watching on repeat a fascinating video called To Scale: TIME. It’s about the evolutionary timeline of everything we know and everything that went before, and no matter how many times I watch it, I still don’t think I get it. It’s a bit too big for my wee brain to fathom, but I am finding the vastness of time weirdly comforting. While our current troubles may seem overwhelming, it’s good to keep in mind that we’re a mere blip in the universe.

The video was conceived by Wylie Overstreet and Alex Gorosh, who are responsible for a series of amazing short science-based films about the scale of immense things. They call their series To Scale, and I find it remarkable. The folks at To Scale have a number of big ideas that they’ve managed to represent visually. I truly appreciate their approach and their concise explanations of the scientific facts that relate to their topics. I sincerely hope they keep going. I find their style of teaching a very palatable method of learning more about our planet and universe and solar system (and whatever else they decide to tackle).

These guys are so smart. But funny, too. How they even thought of doing this–all of this–is beyond me.
