OMG the pipes on this woman! Since stumbling across the first video below, I’ve had it on repeat. If it’s not playing on my phone or laptop, it’s playing in my head. Talk about a barn burner! I of course had to know more about the singer. Apparently, I’m very late to the table. Imelda Mary Higham, AKA Imelda May, is a singer/songwriter and TV host from Dublin, Ireland, and she’s been huge on the rockabilly circuit for decades. I have some catching up to do!

Her version of rockabilly has just enough punk and jazz to make it really interesting, and she seems to work with some truly remarkable musicians. In particular, the bass player on Johnny’s Got a Boom Boom is nothing short of a genius! I may have gotten a little carried away with the number of her videos I’ve posted below, but they’re all amazing, and frankly, I couldn’t stop!
