Are you old enough to remember console TVs and radios? I am. My parents’ living room was DOMINATED (I cannot overstate this) by the enormous console stereo which included a turntable, AM/FM radio (our first FM radio, by the way), cassette tape player, 8-track player, and room for records and cassettes. As much space as all that took up, it was the built-in speakers that occupied the most living room real estate. This mahogany-clad monstrosity held court at the center of the living room wall and managed to catch everyone on the hip as you walked by. I do not have very fond memories, at least from a design perspective, of that 1970s version. However, I’ve always had a real soft spot for TVs and radios from earlier eras. While we’ve certainly seen innovative uses for vintage furniture, the clever folks at Nostalgic Nooks are not only recycling non-working vintage electronics, they’re also turning cat beds and litter boxes into more of a design feature than an ugly necessity.

Using clever taglines like “Finally, pet furniture as dramatic as your cat,”

I love that they’re as dedicated to sustainability as they are to style and pet comfort. What a wonderful idea!

I LOVE these! Our three cats definitely love to be enclosed in boxes so I think they would appreciate these and I love both the nostalgia and the repurposing of vintage furniture.
