The Bennett Hall Band

Editor’s Note: I have been coming across some outrageously-cool musicians lately, and it’s usually my practice to post only one musical artist per week, but this week, I thought I’d try something different. It’s music week! The artists are all very different, and I think there will be something for everyone. Hope you enjoy them!

The Bennett Hall Band made a name for themselves with a song directed at the mean girls and the haters out there, a sentiment I can certainly get behind. (Yes, I know that was ungrammatical, but nobody would say “behind which I could get.”) After putting out the original song’s chorus on social media, the trio was immediately snatched up by a record label, and just like that, they were headed for big things. The band’s three main members are sisters Kat (17), Presley Rose (15), and Josie Hope (12) Hall. They named the band after their late brother Bennett.

The girls have been singing together since grade school, and all that practice has certainly paid off. Their sister harmonies are gorgeous and lush and touching.

I’m sorry I’m pretty
I’m sorry I’m smart
I’m sorry I can dance and sing and play guitar
I’m sorry I’m the kind of girl you wish you could be
I’m sorry that your brother keeps on asking for front row seats
But the truth is I enjoy it every now and then
My mama warned me I’d be hated for the way I am

Contemporary country music is not my thing – nothing post-1980s probably – but I think they are super-talented and have a lovely vibe to their harmonies.
