It is pride month, so I thought I’d kick it off with something fun! The Barcelona music sensation known as Ketekalles combines rap and hip hop with more traditional Latin music to create something entirely their own. They’re very listenable, and though I don’t know what they’re singing about, their music is absolutely infectious. I had a great time cooking to their songs, and found myself dancing around the kitchen more than once!
“Ketekalles serves as a space for free and collective expression. Their lyrics address themes of feminism, identity, and social struggle, while their sound combines the energy of rock, the passion of Latin beats, and the visceral rhythm of rumba. Ketekalles is more than just music: it is a rallying cry, a community, and a sanctuary for those seeking to transform the world through art.” -Ketekalles Bio
While the members have not individually disclosed their sexuality, the group does identify as trans-feminist, and they are always found at queer-focused music festivals.
You can follow Ketekalles on their website and on YouTube, Spotify, Instagram, and Facebook.
