What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Procrastinator’s Lament

Hello, lovelies. We’re back from our annual Fourth of July trip, and I was feeling refreshed and ready to face what is shaping up to be an extra stressful week. Then last night, after Beloved went to bed and I sat down to write today’s post, the universe decided “not so fast, Donna.” And my laptop, my device bestie, my electronic better half, died. At 2 AM. Not cool, universe. Okay, yes, I knew this day would come. I bought her in 2020, right at the start of Covid, and yes, she’s been a little buggy for the last few weeks, but I thought we had more time… (shaking fists at the universe) I’M NOT READY!!!!!

So while I struggle to get a replacement laptop while dealing with family AND work complications, here we are, with a post I wrote on my phone at 3 AM. Mostly unformatted, unfocussed, and subject-less.

Initially, I panicked, then I decided to switch it up a little. Let’s do a little audience participation. I’ll let Bette Midler tell you my favorite raunchy Sophie Tucker joke, and then you tell me your favorite jokes?

Okay, darlings. Let me have those jokes! (And light a candle that I find the time to get a replacement laptop today, or my goose is cooked!)

A guy dies and goes to Hell. The Devil tells him he has three sections to choose from.

In the first one, people are being burned to death, over and over for eternity.

In the second one, people are being tortured to death, again, forever.

In the third one, everyone is standing neck deep in shit, drinking coffee.

The guy thinks about it and says, well, I guess I’ll take the one with coffee.

He gets settled in the shit and sips his coffe and then the Devil yells, “Break’s over men, back on your heads!”

This, by the way, is a line I use all the time to indicate things are not going well, “Break’s over men, back on your heads!” and only very rarely does anyone know why.
