One of the things I love about this time of year (besides the beautiful cool weather) is my renewed interesting in comfort food. And one of the easiest way to produce such soul-warming, belly-filling foods is my beloved crockpot. My mom gave me my first one, back in the eighties when I first set up house. I had a new baby, and my mom (who was a lovely woman, but a poor cook) explained how easy it would make my life to dump ingredients into the crockpot, turn it on, and come back later to a complete meal. As with so many things, mom was so right! I also started making baby food in there, but that’s a story for another day.
I thought it might be a good idea to offer up some crockpot recipes. Mind you, I haven’t tried them myself, but I plan on giving every one of them a try. Let me know in the comments if you have favorite recipes! (Note: I am not a big fan of soup, so it is conspicuously absent from the list below.)
