The Dutch Tile Project

The Dutch Tile Project

A few years ago, Netherlanders Max and Philippe were having a meal in one of their favorite Amsterdam cafes. The restaurant was decorated with the traditional blue-and-white Delft tiles for which the area is famous, and the friends were struck with an idea. What if they put a modern twist on the art form? Thus The Dutch Tile Project was born.

Each of the DTP’s tiles is handmade to order. And you’re not just limited to their wide array of whimsical designs. They will even design a tile just for you! They even offer DIY Tile decorating kits, a great project for little ones or anyone who loves to be creative.

You can see all of The Dutch Tile Project’s incredible tiles on their website and on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.

I was in Delft when I was 17 (so a long time ago) and really enjoyed all of the traditional patterns and subjects of historic, traditional Delftware. I love that artists like these have taken those traditions and found a way to make it contemporary and cool.

WHOA. You’re talking my language. I just love Delft. (The town and the art.) And I love tiles. Off we go to the DIY offerings…..
