Artist James Hance is a man of few words, but his art speaks volumes. He describes his work as “relentlessly cheerful,” and while it doesn’t come across as trite or twee, it really is a lot of fun.
“I’m terrible at writing about myself. Nobody reads these anyway. Go and look at the pictures…” About James Hance
Playing with subjects like Dr. Who, The Muppets, Star Wars, and Where the Wild Things Are, Hance’s work includes something for everyone, but my favorites are his sci fi-themed pieces. They’re a sci fi geek’s dream. In 2016, I first came across the work from his series mashing up Winnie the Pooh and Star Wars which he called Wookie the Chew. Those drawings were wonderful, and can be seen on his website. Hance has since continued his drawing and painting, but he’s now added some charming (if simple) automata along those same themes.
You can see all of James Hance’s work on his website and on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
