Dutch impressionist painter Ans Debije is today’s beautiful thing, and her art lives up to the title. Her vibe is nearly photo-realistic from a distance, but as you get closer, her expressionist brushstrokes take hold, and her art gets much more interesting. Her subjects are everyday objects and elements from nature, but her treatment of those subjects is moving and intriguing. This artist’s paintings of tea cups are making me go all wanty, and I don’t generally respond to paintings of such mundane objects. Also, I hate tea.
“My aim in painting is to make things that we casually pass by every day, attract attention, and that their beauty is recognized. Upgrading ordinary objects by using contrasting darks and lights to create shine is my way to emphasize common, everyday items, so they stand out.”
I really do recommend you look at each work from a distance before examining it up close. It’s incredible stuff!
You can follow the artist in her Ans Debije Gallery of Original Fine Art website and on Instagram and Facebook.

I like the sense of warm light that features in each of the paintings. I am especially drawn to the stacked tea cups and the hanging ladles.
