I recently stumbled across an adorable Austrian indie-infused swing quartet based in Vienna known as Marina & the Kats. They have the best energy, and I love that they’re writing new swing music. The group is best known for their shared use of percussion instruments. Everyone has their own duties with regards to their drum set, and it’s really fun. Their sound has definite elements of modern music, and the blend of old and new styles and tricks is truly a delight.

Apparently Wieners (residents of Vienna) have known about Marina and the Kats for years. The group’s first album was in 2015, so I am very, very late to the table. It’s okay. I’ll catch up.
