What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

My Misspent Youth

ramones The last of the Ramones has left us.  We lost Joey in 2001, Dee Dee in 2002, and Johnny in 2004. Now, it’s Tommy’s turn. I spent crazy amounts of time pogoing to “Blitzkrieg Bop” (“ay, oh, let’s go!”), “Rock ‘N’ Roll High School,” and “I Wanna Be Sedated” was the theme of my favorite prom! And since we moved to Broad Channel, “Rockaway Beach” has been on repeat in my head. You guys scored my teens and beyond, and I’ll never, ever forget you.

Please join me in raising a glass to one of the most iconic punk bands of the late seventies/early eighties. Here’s 40 years of Ramones in pictures from fellow blogger, Distant Echoes.

Funny thing, Johnny Winter just died and I had a much more visceral reaction to his death.

Southern blues rock, plus I am a few years older than you are.

Thanks for your recent interest, myobt, and we, at Filmbell, hope that we can hold that interest.

I saw Ramones a couple of times during the 1970s, once with Tommy still behind the kit. Marky was a great drummer also, probably the best replacement drummer in any band since Ringo Starr. Ramones were a very convincing musical aggregation, with a dynamite concept, and my ears are still ringing.

Nice photograph of the boys you use to head this post,

Their fans should visit Johnny and Dee Dee in Hollywood, where they are laid to rest only about 50 yards apart, after a glorious, if rarely placid, shared career.
