et·som·ni·a (/etˈsämnēə/), noun, 1. a sleep disorder caused by obsessive Etsy browsing. 2. the surprising arrival of weird handmade merchandise ordered in one’s sleep.
Sunday nights are a challenge for me. I was sleepy all afternoon, but once I finished with dinner, I was wide awake. Couldn’t make myself go to bed. But once again, my (sleep) loss is your gain. I had a really fun conversation last week with a colleague about the television shows I grew up watching, and they’ve been on my mind ever since. Therefore, I bring you Etsomnia™ Volume IV, the Retro TV Edition.
What follows are the best and the worst of the 1960’s and 1970’s TV-themed crap items currently available on Etsy.
As usual, links to the items for sale appear below each picture. For more Etsy fun, check out all my weekly Etsomnia™ posts.
I don’t care how convincing your Halloween zombie makeup is. Sixties “wholesome” costumes were infinitely more terrifying. This nightmare is supposed to be Laura Ingals. So why does it look more like Bill Clinton? SaveALotShop
I recently watched a bunch of Facts of Life on YouTube. It still holds up pretty good. I also watched the background story of the cast switch in season 2. It was quite interesting.
I would be lying if I didn’t admit I had a thing for Nancy McKeon (mostly as her Jo character) way back then.

Me, too. And yet it still took me until I was 28 to figure out I liked girls. What a dope.

If I still had it, it would be in regular use in Fire Island.
