What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Curtain up! Light the lights! We’ve got nothing to hit but the heights!

Show time. (gulp)
Tonight opens (and closes) the first show I’ve directed in years. It’s only a little thing, a comedy revue for the 50th anniversary of an organization of which I am quite fond. But tonight, it won’t matter that the show is short and the audience is small (and the cast is big!). I will put myself all the way out there. I will be every bit as filled with excitement and terror as I was in my (slightly) more legit theater days.

Tonight, I need a dose of theater magic, so here is the most inspiring performance I know of. It is here to give me nerve, and to give you pleasure. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you “Glitter and Be Gay” performed by the incomparable, the incandescent, the impossibly flawless Kristin Chenoweth.

Here goes nothin’!!!

I have committed to spending part of every day looking for at least one beautiful thing, and sharing what I find with you lovelies!

  1. My whole family is involved in a play here in town. My daughter is playing Anne Frank. I’m playing Mr. Frank. My wife and other daughter are doing costumes and back stage stuff when the play starts next month. My son will be doing the lights. Have fun and break a leg.

  2. Break a leg! Have a ball! Good on you, myobt!

  3. The first time I saw this, I thought: Wow, Amy Sedaris can really sing. Then I reread the title.
    Thanks for sharing!
