I am a total magpie. I can’t help it. I love shiny things. I also love temporary tattoos, as evidenced by my recent post about some really lovely literary-themed temporary tattoos. So you can imagine my joy when I stumbled across these shiny temporary beauties for adults!
Summer is coming (in theory), so when I saw these metallic jewelry-inspired temporary tattoos by Flash Tattoos, I happily imagined myself wearing them every weekend this summer. They will be just the thing on those hot Cherry Grove, Fire Island nights! In fact, were they not so expensive, I would absolutely cover my mermaids in them this year, too! (Instead, I’ve found cheaper versions which are totally fine for a parade, though I suspect they won’t be as beautiful and crisp up close. See Epilogue below for what I thought of them.)
I first spotted them on the Bank On It blog (which is full of beautiful things. Check them out!) But it was really Flash Tat’s Instagram, full of inspirational photos and creative ways to use their product, that convinced me to buy some. Can’t wait for summer!
Epilogue: The knock-offs have arrived! They were pretty different, so I’m going to review them separately.
Ebay seller JewelryFindingShop (1 sheet of your choosing for $0.99, free shipping): Fairly high quality. They went on the same as the Flash Tats version, and looked pretty good. However, they’re wearing off way faster.
Ebay seller Brobe-Joh (12 assorted sheets for $8, free shipping): Middle-to-low-quality. Even in the package, they don’t look as crisp as the originals or the knock-offs above. They are much flimsier and harder to work with, and I ended up having to remove them and start over a number of times before I could get one placed like I wanted. I would say that these are definitely not worth your money.
Bottom Line: For any kind of important occasion or if you’re planning on wearing them for more than one day, I’d say the original Flash Tat version is the way to go.

Oh yes, they would look great with a tan to show them off to their best advantage.

These are beyond gorgeous! I don’t think I have ever seen silver/gold ink on anyone for a permanent tattoo, but I am going to find out. Permanent jewelry every time–yes, please.

I wouldn’t think there was any way for metallic ink to be permanent, but I could be wrong.

As a fellow magpie (I usually prefer the moniker Raven, magpies are in abundance in my neck of the woods hence oft-loathed and much maligned), I love this concept! I could see ankle and foot adornment with some splashy stroppy sandals too… Summer where are you????
