If you were going to do this dance on a New York City subway platform, you’d have to do it wearing hazmat suits.
Nonetheless, it is really beautiful. I’m fascinated by the choreography – especially the lifts. They’re not just unusual, they’re also timed unexpectedly, and keep coming one after another, which makes them all the more astonishing. In particular, the lift at 0:35 really blew me away. Who thinks like that?
If I had the time, I’d get myself a super-sized bottle of hand sanitizer and watch it all day!

To ever have been that limber…..Absolutely amazingly wonderful.

I know. I was once nearly that limber, but I don’t think I ever moved that beautifully.

Methinks that might be the “clean” and “sanitary” species of subway – in Europe!
That was beautiful. 🙂

Europe or no, you don’t want to roll on a public floor. Nonetheless, I realize New York sets the gold standard for dirt.

Yeah, I think they did a black-light thing down there (like they do in hotels) and I swear I blocked the memory of what they found out of my mind for the sheer level of disgust. I remember the NYC subways (not-so) fondly…

I try not to think about it. And I buy sanitizer at Costco.

I am not remotely knowledgeable about dance but I do believe that choreography was awesome. I like the fact that it was rhythmic but off-beat and the way the dancers interacted with each other was really different to anything I have seen before (though, as I stated, I am not that dance savvy). The thought of making that degree of contact with a subway platform skeeves me out though. Yuck. I was once on the London Underground extremely late at night and the place was swarming with rats and mice. Boke. Those dancers were clearly very dedicated to their performance to not be fretting about gross germs.

Or they’re just young enough not to think about such things. I can remember a time when I wasn’t conscious of how gross everything is. I think it had to do with the fact that I believed myself to be immortal. What a dope.
Anyway, very glad you liked it!

Perhaps it is because I grew up with a neat freak mother in a very scummy area but I have always been aware of the hygiene of my surroundings. You could be right though. Oh to be so young, carefree, foolhardy and bendy!

Isn’t it? I’ve watched it enough that if it were a person, there’d already be an order of protection against me.

Indeed. So are you heading to the Mermaid Parade tomorrow?

I wish I was going to the parade! Loved the photos of mermaid paraphernalia esp. the shell pasties! My years of rocking clams like that may be over, but I am approaching that phase in life where everything (steering wheels, spare rolls of TP, kleenex boxes etc) gets covered in fabric..so I’ll have to keep a look-out for bolts of under-the-sea prints. 🐠

I wish you had gone to the parade, too! We had fun, in spite of the fact that you weren’t there. But next year . . .

Such creativity! I wonder if they did their own choreography and if not who is to be congratulated. BTW, I was never that limber.

It looks like they did do the choreography themselves. Pretty incredible, isn’t it?

Those kids have great moves and make it look so easy, I used to be limber, but dances have changed since I was their age.

This is spectacular on so many levels. On the incredulity front: not only is the subway floor impeccable looking in relative terms but the place is completely deserted. I can’t imagine performing this at 4:30 am after scrubbing the floors. Talk about dedication. 😉
