K. William LeQuier is fascinated with the ocean and the life within. Using a sandblaster, a belt sander, and a diamond saw, he creates gorgeous sculptures which mimic the movement and energy of the ocean perfectly. And I find the simple, spare black stands created to support each of his works equally beautiful.

“My work is inspired by the drama of everyday events in the natural world where weather and time are catalysts for change.”

Though it’s hard to tell in the photos, these pieces are big. They’re typically a few feet across, which makes them all the more impressive. They must be absolutely amazing in person.

I would love to do this with vermicelli. You know, cheap and edible. Because I have cats and they would love to ‘inspect’ his work really, really, up-close and personal.

Because I draw jellyfish a lot, people have shown me the jellyfish sculpture before. This, however, is my first time seeing the wave sculptures. I think they are all wonderful. I would love to own any one of these.

Really beautiful work. I would love to have some of his work too, but…..the cats. I cringe just thinking about it.

My husband has teased me for years saying that the cats need their very own house, LOL.

These are beautiful images. I especially love the realness of not only the jellyfish but the ocean wave.
