What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Making Faces

A couple of days ago, this first video below appeared in my Facebook feed. I couldn’t stop playing it, but try as I might, I couldn’t figure out who the guy was. I eventually posted it on my page and waited. Sure enough, within 24 hours, one of my brilliant (Spanish-speaking) friends identified the performer. What a relief!

The stunning man with the hyper-expressive face is Argentinian dancer, musician, & actor Luciano Rosso. He looks like a silent film star as drawn by a Disney animator. He manages to be gorgeous and really funny at the same time. Not an easy trick. Here’s the video that started me down this rabbit hole.

Here he is performing to the children’s song, “El Pollito Pio.” (Translation of the lyrics here.)

I really cannot stop watching that face.

Here are three of him goofing around in French.

And here’s another triptych, of a slightly different sort. I love this guy!

Next up is a music video he did where he mostly dials down the crazy faces, but his characters are pretty beautifully performed.

And if you’re feeling brave, here’s a few minutes of mania, most which I do not understand, but which nonetheless hypnotized me. If you want to skip to my favorite part, go here instead.

  2. I’m glad the mystery is solved. I felt like I knew him from his expressions, but I didn’t and now I do.
