Today’s post is less of a music discovery and more of a revelation. This is the Los Angeles-based Angel City Chorale‘s performing Toto’s oft-covered “Africa” like you’ve never heard it before. I like the singing okay; parts of it are really quite lovely, and, like much of amateur chorale music, some of it is a little goofy, but it’s overall quite a nice performance. But that’s not what I wanted to share with you.
Before the music, before the singing, the director has them do something so simple, so creative, so astounding, it makes me want to go find a chorus somewhere and make it rain. I don’t want to give it away. I’ve already said too much. Just watch, and turn it up (and least the first two minutes, anyway).
