What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

First Dance

haka

The Haka is a traditional Māori dance and chant that started out as a war dance, a battle cry, a call to arms, but which has evolved over the years to represent community and familial support. If, like me, you are not familiar with it, it may take you a little while to understand the emotion behind it. But if you’re anywhere nearly as big a softie as I am, by the end, you’ll be misting up like the rest of us.

I find it really refreshing and hopeful that there are so many unexpected ways to show love in this world. If you had shown me just a little clip of this video and told me it would make me cry, I would have laughed at you, but I found it profoundly moving. What a wonderful diverse world we live in!

Whoa! That was intense, but very beautiful. And she was a gorgeous bride.

We had Maori dancers who did haka at one of our folk dance festivals here in Phoenix.

My Nephews were welcomed to their new school by a powerful school haka last week. And I still get chills when I remember the rousing haka my whole school performed after raising money for cancer and presenting it the mum of the their fellow student who passed away. The emotion that is invested in it is huge.
