Happy Mother’s Day! Today, because I know so many truly cool moms with daughters, I thought I’d take a look at some awesome mother/daughter tattoos.
My girls and I have talked about getting matching tattoos (mermaids, of course) for years, but we’ve yet to hit on exactly the right design. These people, however, have done a really wonderful job of finding designs that beautifully illustrate the bond between mothers and daughters.
Hope you and all the moms in your world have a wonderful day!

I have to agree, the peanut butter and jam toast /bread was pretty awesome. The hear one, though, leaves room for some harsh interpretation (I was a literature major–so everything is open to interpretation)–as in you ripped a heart out of me. Don’t get me wrong, because it looks cool….just not sure about the message. The rest of them are pretty awesome too. Thanks for finding them.

That is an interesting perspective. I took that one as “you have my heart,” but I take your point. On the other hand “you ripped the heart out of me” is at times a fairly accurate description of motherhood.i think I like that one more, now, because motherhood is really both of those things.

I love these, and love the moms who agreed to do this with their daughters. Very special.

I don’t have a daughter (all sons for me) and I don’t have tattoos but I agree that these are clever designs. I liked the more subtle ones that can stand alone but then have impact together, such as the mandala and the flying birds, but I think the peanut butter and jam ones were cute and the tin can phones too.

I agree. My idea for our tattoos was that we would get three mermaids swimming in a circle – a mother and two daughters. And the one that represents each of us would be in color, with the other two mermaids would just be in black. Easier to explain, but not bad on its own.

That’s a cool idea! I love mermaids. Be sure to share when you get it done.

Love love love these! And I love the heart. Who said, “Becoming a mother means forever deciding to let your heart walk around outside your body?” I think that’s likely the reference. And it brought tears to my eyes. I’m getting a totroo this week to honor a dear friend who died last month, and I have one already to honor my daughter. When she’s old enough to get one, she probably won’t want one (if her mom has three, how cool can they be, right?). But I hope she does. Because so many of these are so beautifully perfect… And the one with the strings connecting the tin can telephones? Brilliant!!! Find an artist whose work you love, and get those mermaids, my friend. Life is fleeting. ❤️

Ci saw that you two lost your friend. I’m so sorry. I know what you mean, and I think you’re right. I will get on that tattoo project. Love you, sweetie! (And if that child doesn’t know how cool you are when she gets older, send her to me..)

Beautiful works. I have two daughters so the image of the three infinity tattoos captured my heart.

Oh, and I see the first image posted of the hearts to be images of completion. The people’s hearts are complete and overflowing when they are together.

I love them all! The Pooh and piglet pair brought tears to my eyes! adorable. My daughter is working on sleeves….maybe if she has a spot free we can find some mother- daughter art? She has a lovely mermaid……with a diving helmet! Maybe I should just get oxygen tanks! 🙂

Ah, sleeves. My son-in-law got his done “in time for the wedding.” I would claim some arm real estate while you still can!
