Years ago, I got to work with my dear friend Joe Sena on his 3-day/24-hour internet extravaganza, “100 Years of Monster Movies.” The 72-hour horror film marathon was scheduled to coincide with the Horrorhound convention from which were streamed live movie introductions by Elvira and other well-known horror hosts, culminating in a live interview with the zombie godfather himself, George Romero!
Although the event was wildly popular, as were Joe’s subsequent monster movie events, it still took a few years and a lot of effort on Joe’s part to find the right way to share his horror obsession. He tried a lot of things, and we even talked about teaming up to be horror hosts ourselves. (I was going to be Ghoulia Childs until I found out the name was already taken by a horror-inspired baker, damnit.) I gave up, but Joe persevered. Happily, my friend finally hit the sweet spot with his own horror movie channel! It’s called The Monster Channel, and it can be watched 24/7 on ROKU and the internet.
“Throughout the day, we present classic and not-so-classic horror movies, forgotten television shows, short films, bizarro civil defense and safety films, movie trailers, music videos, promotions for upcoming movies/TV and other media of interest to fans of horror and associated genres.” -The Monster Channel FAQs
I am a big horror fan, especially the old, goofy stuff, so this channel is going to be on a LOT in my house! The schedule is full of things I can’t wait to see (or see again). For example, how cute is this?
