I’ve posted about beautifully-colored villages like Burano and Chefchaouen a few times before, but I think this one actually wins the prize for most colorful. This is Guatapé, an Andean resort town in northwest Colombia, east of Medellín (the “world’s most murderous city”). Photographer Jessica Devnani stumbled up on it completely by accident while backpacking through Columbia.

Devnani learned the beautiful town’s tradition of painting every surface started with a few families putting up murals on the sides of their houses depicting something that mattered to them – their family tree, their family business, their religious beliefs. Then the idea caught on, and eventually, the whole town was doing it. I can’t say I blame them. It really is charming!
