I love New York City, especially at night, and this time of year, the old girl is especially sparkly. Restaurants are all festive and cozy, shop windows are displaying their twinkly best, and people are making eye contact and smiling! Okay, it’s mostly the tourists doing the smiling, but it’s still a pleasure to walk around. Today, I bring to you a gorgeous graphic representation of how I feel about my beloved city in December.

Inspired by the gold-heavy works of Austrian painter Gustav Klimt, graphic designer Rafael Esquer of Alfalfa New York created this festive representation of NYC in all her night-time glory.  Featuring gold and silver foil and metallic inks printed on deep black paper, the illustration includes more than 600 iconic New York landmarks. I am always drawn to maps, but I’ve never seen one I wanted more!

Limited-edition prints of Iconic New York Illuminated© can be purchased for $175 from Alfalfa New York.
